Returning to Calm After the Storm

I have been on an emotional roller coaster the last month or so, and I know I am not alone. The weather and the earth/planetary energies have been crazy this early 2026.
In the second half of January, I had the most amazing time on a woman’s spiritual retreat in Egypt. It was truly special, and I am sure I will post more about it when I am ready.
However, coming back to the ice storm in Nashville was a stark contrast. I felt like I came home to a war zone with no electricity, no internet, and so many trees and branches down all over Nashville. And our dog Drake got sick in the thick of it.
Thank God my husband could pick me up from the airport the day after the storm. And, we had a friend who offered a place to stay after waking up to 37 degrees in our house a few mornings. It was really nice to be around other people during that time.
I am still processing everything that occurred. No internet for another week after the power came on was a nice respite from technology, since, as many of you know, I use my cellphone as little as possible.
It gave us time to clean up the house and the yard. It also allowed me to grieve Drake, who did not make it through the ordeal. (He had swallow something that got stuck in his colon and he did not make through recovery.:( )
I have heard similar “overwhelm” stories from clients, family, and friends.
If you got stuck on one of the crazy storms this winter, I hope you made it through safely and with ease.
If you are still feeling disruptive energies, make sure you give yourself time to recalibrate and heal.
Permit yourself to rest more. Take hot Epsom salt baths. Walk in nature, even if you have to bundle up. Put your feet on the earth (or your hands in the snow) to ground.
Let yourself be still. Put one hand on your heart chakra, the other on your belly, and belly breathe calmly while you pray and/or meditate. Exhale longer than you inhale to future calm your parasympathetic nervous system. And, when you are ready, socialize with friends and family.
